Full description

This PostDoc project focusses on extending an existing digital twin platform called DTaaS with better support for collaboration between different legal entities in a secure manner. Digital twins are software representations of physical assets, processes, or systems.

They leverage real-time data to mirror the behaviour and characteristics of their physical counterparts, enabling predictive maintenance, optimization, and improved decision‑making in various industries like manufacturing, construction, and urban planning.

Secure collaboration facilities in the DTaaS platform allows co‑creation of products and services across multiple companies and authorities, thus supporting large virtual enterprises necessary for the development and operation of large‑scale enterprises, such as critical infrastructures, logistics chains, etc.

The research involves extensions to the DTaaS platform with different security principles and defining security policies that supports co‑simulations by multiple autonomous actors.

A proof‑of‑concept of the value of such dynamic collaboration in a System of Systems setting is included with a case centred around Aarhus Festuge.

Industrially this new technology is very valuable in order to protect Intellectual Property for the different legal entities and principles for sharing data as the situation changes (using the security policies). Expected start date and duration of employment This is a fulltime 19 month position starting from 1 February 2027 or as soon possible.

The primary duties of the postdoc will be: - Develop a dynamic access control model that supports multi‑tenant collaboration on the DTaaS platform - Integrate the developed model into the existing DTaaS platform developed at AU - Evaluate the developed model with respect to the goals defined in the project - Help disseminate the results of the research conducted in the project, both internally at AU through collaboration with other departments and supervising student projects and externally through academic publications and different industrial outreach activities The candidate has at least the following qualifications - Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar - Cyber‑physical modelling and simulation - Digital Twins - Security Policies and their architectures - Advanced programming skills What we offer - a well‑developed research infrastructure, laboratories and access to shared equipment - an exciting interdisciplinary environment with many national, international and industrial collaborators - a research climate encouraging lively, open and critical discussion within and across different fields of research - a work environment with close working relationships, networking and social activities - a workplace characterised by professionalism, equality and a healthy work‑life balance.
